Philosophy
My goal is to help patients live their lives as normally, as fully and as actively as possible by optimizing function and decreasing pain. This is achieved by providing a safe space for hands-on and individualized treatment and rehabilitation.
Speaking personally
What drives your passion as an OT practitioner?
I thrive on empowering people to live life to the fullest. Working with patients to recover functional independence inspires me to continually challenge myself to learn, adapt and use new skills. I am gratified knowing that my natural ability to connect, communicate, collaborate and deliver compassionate care has had a profound effect on patients, families and the community.
How is the role of OT expanding in oncology?
Occupational therapy continues to evolve and become integral to the oncology care team to improve physical AND psychosocial, cognitive and long-term or late effects, regardless of life expectancy and especially as survivorship grows.
How do you describe your patient philosophy?
Humans have a right to engage in meaningful occupations during their entire life span. I believe in a holistic and functional approach grounded in partnership and compassionate, evidence-based therapy intervention as a means of contributing to a patient’s sense of satisfaction and subsequent well-being.
Please know that both Sid and I were very grateful for your tender care and clear instructions. Thank you for all that you did to help Sid.
