Therapy Services
We provide outpatient therapy and rehabilitation exclusively to patients experiencing complications from cancer surgery and cancer treatments.
Pre-op and
pre-radiation therapy
The goal is baseline measurements and education.
This is achieved through education on risk reduction practices for lymphedema and activity modifications, as well as optimizing the range of motion for the upper body through stretches and exercise.
Post-op from cancer and cosmetic surgery
The goal, after clearance from the surgeon, is to ease your discomfort, restore your range of motion and strength and increase your ability to complete daily tasks, improve your quality of life and minimize or manage your risk for lymphedema.
This is achieved through personalized treatment plans focusing on postural alignment, scar tissue management, stretching, and exercises.
Complete decongestive therapy includes manual lymph drainage, skincare, exercise and compression.
Lymphedema therapy
What is Lymphedema
Lymphedema is an abnormal collection of lymphatic fluid in the tissues just beneath the skin. This swelling commonly occurs in the arm or leg, but it may also occur in other body areas including the breast, chest, head and neck, and genitals. Lymphedema develops when a body region, where lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes are missing or impaired, becomes overloaded with lymphatic fluid.
If the condition is left untreated, it leads to progressive tissue swelling over time. Lymphatic fluid congestion also reduces healthy blood flow to the tissue, interferes with wound healing, and enables bacteria to grow, which increases the risk for tissue infections. (National Lymphedema Network)
